ISBER Launches Russian Translation of Best Practices: Recommendations for Repositories

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Canada, August 17, 2018—The International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) is pleased to announce the release of the Russian translation of Best Practices: Recommendations for Repositories, Fourth Edition.

The Fourth Edition publication, originally released in January 2018, is a practice-changing publication aimed at advancing the science of biobanking to meet the needs of a growing industry. The English publication has been downloaded over 1000 times, and this translation will help meet the needs of more members worldwide and facilitate further growth in this field.

“The ISBER Best Practices publication is a key document for further developing biobanking. For ISBER as an international society, it is very important to translate the Best Practices in different languages relevant for and required by ISBER members,” said Dr. Daniel Simeon-Dubach, Chair of ISBER’s Standards Committee.

“Translation of the Best Practices document into Russian makes it accessible to a much wider audience of biobanking colleagues in the region,” said Dr. Alison Parry-Jones, Director-At-Large for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions. “It is only by sharing good practice with tools such as the Best Practices that we will advance the science of biobanking, a key goal for ISBER and the community worldwide.”

“The ISBER Best Practices 4th Edition aims to sustain and support biobankers everywhere,” added David Lewandowski, President of ISBER. “Translating these Best Practices into multiple languages aligns with ISBER’s position as the leading resource in repository management – and the Russian translation of Best Practices is but one more step in our goal.”

The ISBER Best Practices will be published in Russia soon with the support from NBS and officially presented during the educational biobanking workshop to be held at Skolkovo Technopark (Moscow) in November 2018. The workshop aims to expand professional knowledge in the biobanking field among Russian physicians, researchers and biobanking community. Dr. Zisis Kozlakidis, ISBER Past-President and Dr. Daniel Simeon-Dubach, Chair of ISBER’s Standards Committee are going to join the event with lectures and presentations. We hope that this collaborative workshop will help advance the implementation of modern biobanking standards in Russia.
